Mountain Home with Ultra Low Gloss Charcoal Gray Roof
This stunning mountain home located at 10,000 feet above Crested Butte, Colorado, is a prime example of how aesthetics and performance can blend seamlessly. The roof, finished in CMG’s Ultra Low Gloss Charcoal Gray, offers not only a sleek, contemporary look but also practical benefits that make it perfect for the harsh conditions of high-altitude living. The low-gloss finish was specifically selected to reduce oil-canning and glare, creating a flawless, uniform appearance across the expansive roofline.
CMG Ultra Low Gloss Charcoal Gray Finish
CMG’s Ultra Low Gloss Charcoal Gray is a premium coating choice that minimizes the risk of oil-canning, a common issue with metal roofing that can compromise its aesthetic integrity over time. The ultra-low sheen finish ensures a clean, muted surface that reduces light reflection, making it ideal for regions with high sunlight exposure. This finish not only provides superior durability but also enhances the roof’s resistance to fading and weathering, ensuring that it maintains its sleek, uniform appearance for years to come. By opting for this low-gloss option, homeowners can enjoy a sophisticated, matte look that complements both contemporary and traditional architectural styles.
Roofing System & Installation
The roof panels were expertly crafted by Gunnison Sheet Metal and Roll-Forming, using New Tech Machinery’s 12” panel with a single striation. The 1.5” mechanical lock standing seam system was chosen to ensure rigidity and further reduce the likelihood of oil-canning. Axtell Mtn Construction Roofing and Siding took charge of the installation, bringing their expertise to this demanding project. The roof pitch ranged from 4:12 to 9:12, which required careful planning and precise execution.
Special Features & Considerations
With the property’s remote location, the roof had to withstand heavy snow loads and extreme weather conditions. To mitigate potential ice damage, Axtell Mtn Construction installed nearly 200 linear feet of S-5! Colorgard Snow Retention, combined with 220v Heat Trace Cables in areas prone to ice formation. For further protection, the lower-pitched areas were double-locked, ensuring maximum resistance to water and ice infiltration.
