A Coordinated Roofing Solution Built for Complex Geometry

Following hail damage, this contemporary residence in Bryan, Texas, required a complete roofing replacement that could restore dependable performance without compromising the home’s distinctive modern design. The original assembly combined snap-lock standing seam panels with modified roofing across the low-slope areas, requiring a replacement strategy tailored to the different conditions throughout the roof.

Lone-Star Roof Systems selected CMG’s 24-gauge Musket Gray pre-finished steel for the sloped roof sections, pairing mechanically seamed standing seam panels with a Duro-Last PVC system on the low slopes. Together, the two systems provide a coordinated solution that follows the home’s complex roof geometry while maintaining a clean, consistent appearance.

Rebuilding After Hail Damage

Hail damage created the need for more than a straightforward material replacement. With multiple hips, valleys, transitions, and low-slope sections, each area of the roof needed to be evaluated according to its individual drainage and performance requirements.

The original snap-lock metal roofing was replaced with a mechanically seamed standing seam system. Lone-Star Roof Systems manufactured the new panels using a New Tech Machinery SSQ roll former, producing a 1.5” SS150 profile with striations and clip relief.

The mechanical seam provides a secure panel connection, while the striated surface gives the broad roof planes a more uniform appearance. Clip relief was also incorporated into the profile to support cleaner panel engagement and installation.

The Right System for Every Roof Area

One of the project’s defining features is its combination of steep- and low-slope roof sections. Rather than applying a single roofing material across conditions for which it may not be ideally suited, Lone-Star Roof Systems matched each roof area with the appropriate system.

CMG’s Musket Gray standing seam panels were installed across the sloped portions of the roof, where the panel lines emphasize the home’s many hips, valleys, and architectural transitions. The central low-slope roof was completed with a Duro-Last PVC roofing system, creating a practical solution for areas requiring a different approach to drainage and weather protection.

Careful detailing at the transitions between the metal and PVC systems was essential. These connection points needed to function together as part of one complete roofing assembly while maintaining the residence’s crisp architectural lines.

Precision Across Complex Geometry

The home’s roof is composed of intersecting forms extending around the central second-story structure. From ground level, the standing seam panels create a consistent visual rhythm across the front elevation. From above, the complexity of the installation becomes much more apparent.

Panel layouts had to remain aligned through numerous hips, valleys, ridges, and changes in direction. Custom trim and transition details create clear separation between adjoining roof planes while preserving the streamlined appearance of the overall design.

CMG’s Musket Gray finish complements the home’s white stucco, warm wood siding, dark windows, and natural landscaping. The neutral gray color adds definition to the roof without overwhelming the exterior palette, allowing the metal panels to feel like an intentional part of the architecture.

The Finished Project

The completed roof preserves the residence’s contemporary character while replacing the hail-damaged assembly with a thoughtfully coordinated combination of standing seam metal and PVC roofing.
